Henry II of England

Henry II of England, Count of Anjou, Count of Maine, Duke of Normandy, Duke of Aquitaine, Duke of Gascony, Count of Nantes and Lord of Ireland. My ancestor had a real bunch of titles. He also had a stormy marriage with Eleanor of Aquitaine, who set the children on their own father. One of the children became Richard the Lion Heart and one of the daughters, Mathilda is the link between Henry and me.

When it comes to men in history and then particularily kings there far more information to read than the information about the women. That is the legacy that has been given us and still influences ours society today.

The noble men at court emulated their king in style and manners in a way of flattery and to gain much needed favours to uphold an exalted lifestyle. It is mindblowing, to say the least, to imagine the enormous power that was wielded by men like Henry II over almost every aspect of people's lives.
