Sunglasses - Purple Label

Winter is still upon us, at least here in the cold north. We look forward to spring, summer and sunshine. Then we definitely need some sunglasses. These are from Ralph Lauren Purple Label 2011 but I think they will do nicely this comin summer as well.

Christmas at Selfridges

As I have said earlier Christmas at Harrods is a treat and so it is at Selfridges which I for some reason always have preferred to the former. Lots of goodies to buy at this department store like a bag from Ralph Lauren, an Edwardian shaving set from Taylor of Bond Street and perfume from Tom Ford.

Ralph Lauren Purple Label Spring 2012

I'm getting quite hot and bothered here and it isn't just because of the models in the clothes. It is actually the clothes themselves. These are pieces from Ralph Lauren's Purple Label for spring 2012. When I see them I think of The Great Gatsby and America in the late 1920s and the beginning of the 1930s. Bold printed ties that are getting decidely broader than previous trends. I'm not to fond of black and white shoes but for Ralph Lauren I can try to make an exception. The things you see on the pictures. I want them all!! And, yes, I mean the clothes.

Women of the world have lots to delight over next spring. At least if we take a look at what Ralph Lauren has presented to the market. Undertstaded, classic pieces with clear references to the 1920s. There are actually few things that are as sexy as a woman in a well tailored suit. Ralph Lauren has done good. We like! Very Much!

Must Haves

When on Rodeo Drive I found two things worth dying for, a white jacket from Ralph Lauren and blue leather shoes from Hugo Boss. Absolutely yummy!!!

Rodeo Drive

Today I spent the day on Rodeo Drive in the blistering Californian heat. I thought I was going to melt and dissolve on the pavements. Lucky then that there are so many shops with cool air conditioning to save your day. You could easily ruin the economy of a small country in these palaces of luxury. My absolute favourites were Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Gucci. Scandinavia has their representatives like George Jensen and Bang & Olufsen and Nudie Jeans in Barneys were I incidentally had a lovely lunch on the top floor.

Today summer really came knocking at us up in the north. Made me think of Ralph Lauren's advertising when I looked out over the beautiful landscape. If anyone has created an idealistic view of summer, romance and elegance it is Ralph Lauren. I mean who wouldn't like to run through a field on a white horse, dressed impeccably and without a care in the world?

How can you sum up the fall collections for Ralph Lauren 2011. Mouthwatering!! I just love it. The picture above is from the Ralph Lauren collection and the pictures below from the line Purple Label. My biggest weakness is the Purple label. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive. What to do? Grin and bear it!

Moments of Life

Sometimes in life you hit a wall where you are plunged into darkness and have to struggle to find the light. I think it was about six years ago I hit my wall and it was called panic attacks. Not an experience I would wish on anyone, not even my worst enemy. It feels like you are going to die, that your heart is going to give out and I thought that something was seriously wrong with me.

When you are ill shoes from Prada, clothes from Ralph Lauren and trinkets from Lalique mean nothing. The only thing that you want is to be well again. You take a hard look on your life and evaluate what is important and not. My conclusion was that two things took precedence over everything else; to find someone to love and to be a published writer.

Five years ago on this exact date I met someone who blew my mind. I felt that I had found what I was looking for and instantly forgot that it takes two to tango.

Because I didn't blow his mind.

Life has a tendency to throw you curve balls and how you deal with them is entirely individual. I try to live by the principle that when you land on your arse the only thing you can do is to stand up, dust yourself off and keep on moving.

I wouldn't say that I today am demon free but I'm a published writer and I'm loved.

And, dear God help me, I still want more .....

Morris Stockholm

Morris Stockholm is the epitomy of preppy and if you want to be a bit harsh, Ralph Lauren's poor cousin. Since I'm a big fan of the preppy look I'm all in and I have never minded paying less. What I find a bit amusing is that the head office is nowhere near Stockholm but in the smaller city of Borås. That is never shown in any of the marketing. I wonder why (every syllable dripping with irony)?

An example of Ralph Lauren's spring collection for 2011. I have always been a sucker for the preppy look but personally I would have chosen a navy blue jacket. I don't need any help from a garish jacket to attract atention.

Some of the new arrivals for the season from Ralph Lauren. A light pink cashmere sweater I think would be a fun addition to the wardrobe and men should definitely be able to wear pink.

Nice cardigan and a good colour. Not so sure about the shorts and who in their right mind would wear that kind of shoes to a pair of shorts?


Makes me think of The Great Gatsby and would it not be fun to be at a party in the Hamptons this summer in this attire with an icecold vodka martini in hand?!

Oscar Jacobson

I have seen Oscar Jacobson's emblem of the letters O and J fused together since I was a child. What I think of when I hear the brand name is good quality and craftmanship. On the downside I think old man. It might not be the first place I would run to to buy a suit if it wasn't intended for my father that is. The latest advertising flirts with the aesthetic of Ralph Lauren. I have always liked Ralph Lauren's advertising, but from Oscar Jacobson's point of view I would have preferred if they had worked with building their own brand identity instead of copying someone elses.

The company was founded in 1903 and as you can easily count, it has been with us for more than a century. That is very impressive indeed and something for them to be proud of. I think it is going to be exciting to see what the company will do in the future and which road they are going to pave to keep their position in the fashion world (or perhaps an entirely new position to ensure survival). What remains to be seen is if I will purchase their goods when I'm older. Time will tell.

You could say that I have gone a bit overboard with the shopping the last few weeks. H&M, Ralph Lauren,Lanvin, Lyle & Scott, Fred Perry and Pringle.

And the most frightening thing of it all is, I want more ....

Today was the premiere of my column and the first piece was about the Swedish try outs for the Eurovision Song Contest. Since I have to live with the pictures for a long time I relied on good friends like Ralph Lauren and Johan Lindeberg for a stylish result.

Ralph Lauren Purple Label Spring 2011

Here we have some examples of what Ralph Lauren is dishing out in stores this spring when it comes to his Purple Label. Nice, cool, wonderful, beautiful. I could go on and on with the accolades. This is so good!! Couldn't think of a better way to go bancrupt. The whole ensemble in the top picture has my name written all over it.




Shopping can really cheer a boy up.
