Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli is one of those designers whose clothes are a mix of rockn'roll, luxury and just a little bit too much. Both the advertising for his main brand and for Just Cavalli is highly sexualised. I suppose that is why it hits home with me.

Reiss Spring/Summer 2012

As always the company Reiss delivers trusty pieces that are classical and never too much. If you want too much you have to set your sights elsewhere. Reiss is as all the others following the season's current trend of more or less vibrant colours. If you want a safe bet in ýour wardrobe you go with Reiss.

Hermes Spring/Summer 2012

Hermes makes bags that some women seem to be able to kill for. Well at least sign on a waiting list and pay a sum that could finance a proper trip to the other side of the world. Hermes has been around for quite some time and isn't exactly what we associate with fashion forwardness but they live on old and hard earned laurels. Another thing that a lot of women consider to be a must have in their wardrobe is a Hermes scarf.

Even though Hermes makes menswear (and other things naturally) I personally think that it feels like a woman's label. Men don't feel that they need to break their necks och bust their bank balance for a jacket or a pair of trousers from Hermes like they would be more likely to do for Hugo Boss, Armani or Burberry. As a man's label Hermes is quite anonymous which is of course a bit strange. The quality is excellent, the prices are over the top like all luxury brands and their clothes are not particularily different from the other labels mentioned above. So what is it down to? Marketing and the building of brand value. Hermes has all the necessary assets. Now it is all done to the packaging.

Jaeger

When in England you get reminded by brands that you tned to forget otherwise like the ultra English Jaeger. Understated fashion that puts the E back into English but perhaps not much to write home about.

Gucci Spring 2012 Ad Campaign

A cold spell has returned to Sweden. Then why not soak yourself in guilty pleasures like Gucci. Effortless and in most cases totally useless luxury. Looks good, makes an impact, is pirate copied from here to eternity, costs an arm and a leg and can turn a grey and gloomy day into something spectacular. And if nothing else an elegant advertising campaign can distract the atention away from not the best text in the world.

Fendi

The current collection for Fendi is fun and delectable. I love it, love it and love it some more. It feels like the 1960s took parts of the 1970s on a journey and they met science fiction on the way and finally they ended up on Fendi's catwalk. Of course the clothes cost an arm and a leg but in this case it just might be worth it. I feel happy when I see the clothes and that is as good as a grade as it gets. All of you, enjoy!!!

Hackett

Hackett is one of the true British institutions when it comes to male fashion. If you want quality and tradition this is one of the places to go. This current season it is a bit like they have blended the English Dandy with a bit of Clark Kent geekiness, but the result is good. I love the navyblue pinstripe suit above. A sure winner.

Or why not a revisit to the 1920s where you look like you are getting ready for the regatta?

Lanvin Spring 2012

For the current collection Lanvin has sneaked peaks on the 1980s and ancient Greece. Since I am fascinated by both periods I'm hooked.

When we come to the men's clothes they are colourful which is the primary thing with this season. Considering the shaky economic state of the world we can use all the colour we can get.

ACNE Spring/Summer 2012

Here are some examples from the current collection of Swedish company ACNE. Some good pieces and some not so good.

I would never wear the ensemble above. I would rather keel over.

dsquared

I saw this picture on www.izAndrew.blogspot.com. It's from Dsquared's current collection and I like it. I'm a big fan of colour at the moment and I fell for the orange and pink. It is just the length of the trousers I have a problem with. Well, well ...

Donna Karan Spring 2012

The current colection from Donna Karan is colourful and full of graphic details. I can't help but feel a whiff of the 80s in this collection and I don't know exactly what I should feel about it. The jury is still out on this one.

The draping reminds me of Ancient Rome and also of some dresses Madelienne Vionnet made in Paris in the 1920s but still the clothes themselves resonates something from the 1980s. To some extent I can feel that it clashes, but as everything else it is a matter of taste.

Paul Smith Spring 2012

From this example from the spring collection for Paul Smith I would say we have one thing to do ... or perhaps two, money to spend and .... trousers to be lengthened.

Iceberg 2012

The 1980s is back with a vengenance. At least if we look at the current collection from Iceberg.

Burberry Spring 2012

A taste of the new advertising for Burberry spring 2012, and quite a yummy taste it is. Classic Burberry with a twist of sexiness. I find it nice and when have you last seen two trenchcoats look so hot? English quality all the way and also packaged in the right way. In other words a winner.

On the other hand I'm not sure I can call the sweater on that guy above a winner. It's a bit too colourful, even for me.

Gianfranco Ferré Spring 2012

It is dramatic, it is bold and it is purple. And the model strides down the catwalk with enough oomph to keep a power plant going for a ýear. Gianfranco Ferré probably deserves some more attention in the fashion world, or what do you say?

Gaultier

Two outfits from the spring collection for 2012 by Jean-Paul Gaultier, that also used to be called l'enfant terrible. The clothes are very Gaultier, very French and with just enough touch of sexiness. Spring is looking up, at least from where I'm sitting.

Roberto Cavalli Spring 2012

Roberto Cavalli continues his brand of sexiness with the spring collection for 2012. I do like consistency and if a brand wants to survive it has to do just that, be true to the concept.

Spring seems far away here with cold, greyness and plenty of rain mingled with snow. Definitely need to be uplifted by Cavalli's creations and he delivers.

The upcoming men's collection is extremely colourful. Perhaps too colourful. It smells of the 1980s but I suppose we get used to it.
