Danny Christensen - Photographer

Danish born, New York based photographer Danny Christensen is really something but he needs to lose the mustache. He is really talented and brings a bit of oomph to his pictures.

I could eat him up.

Somebody give me a spoon.

Beauty

Today I felt an accute need for an injection of beauty as I'm to make a transition from one reality to another. Beauty and the feeling it conjures up is the perfect medication for many of life's evils. It can soothe the most tormented of souls and the most weary of bodies. I suppose that is why we through the history of mankind has made it into something that borders on religion, for what do we worship as much as the the things that are pleasing to the eye?

Alexander McQueen fully understood the concept of beauty, as can be seen from these excerpts from the book that was produced for the exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Oscar de la Renta

This is a killer dress from Oscar de la Renta. It was recently worn by Sarah Jessica Parker for the New York premiere of the latest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2.

Random Thoughts

Hard to imagine that concrete and bright lights in a shining city like New York can hold so much adventure, so much excitement and thrilling experiences but as so many times before I found my salvation in London.

Today I have been at a place I think can be considered to be one of the furthest cries from New York City. Small red houses with white details and large fields as far as the eye can see. In this aspect I'm fire and ice, a contradiction, since I love both the biggest cities just as well the wildest countryside. It is the things inbetween that I'm not so fond of.

I wouldn't say that the same person returned to Sweden in comparison to the one who left. I feel different and think differently. It's time for a new chapter. The goals I had set for myself years agoa have been fulfilled. Now I need new goals and they are already forming and brewing in my brain. I don't seek world fame or big heaps of money but if I succeed it will be known.

I'm happier than ever that I'm a creative person and that I know how to wield these talents to give me the biggest personal gratification and hopefully in the process entertain others in more ways than one.

The lily means "I dare you to love me."

What we believe in life is coloured and affected by the experiences we encounter in life. For some reasons I have been shown past lives. I have been a political writer in 17th century Holland and an noble woman in 18th century England. I have chosen to learn something from these experiences and have seen that the written word has been of great importance to me in all life times, just as well as that the same soul has been my love time and time again. That is in truth a bit scary.

You defiled my love and denied your own. No matter how you cut it Karma is a bitch and it will always find its goal and deliever what needs to be delievered.

LA - NY

On fifth Avenue

After one day on the east coast I have a slight but perhaps not unbiased view of the differences between LA and NYC. I like LA alot but I must say that I love NY and I think it happened the instance when I saw the Manhattan skyline. There are pros and cons with both places of course. LA is hot and NYC is hot and humid. LA wins that one. It is easier to move around in NYC and the feel of the city is more European which I like. Round two for NYC. The style of the New Yorkers are more to my taste but the Los Angelers are more friendly (could of course have something to do with that I spent most of my time in West Hollywood).

So in a perfect world I would take the climate of California and the people, suit them up in a slightly different style and dump them in New York. That would be the recipe of a really good city.

A relative perhaps? (at the Metro Museum)

Savage Beauty

Today I was at The Metropolitan Art Museum in New York. I spent loads of time in my favourite sections with objects from ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Lucky for me they also had an exhibition, "Savage Beauty", with clothes designed by Alexander McQueen. It took some time to get there since we had to queue for one and a half hours to see the master pieces. It was definitely worth the wait and yet another confirmation of the late English genius.

I threw myself at the book about the exhibition and they seemed to be going like hot cakes.

Grey Ant Spring Collection 2011

Grey Ant is a New York based clothing label that I came across just because I was intrigued by the name. Isn't it funny how you can find something new and exciting just for the reason of a name. It definitely pays to be curious. Their webpage is under construction at the moment but you can find it here.

As with many other designers and labels this season the 1970s is quite evident as a source of inspiration. I think that the clothes feel fresh and happening. They feel perfect for a warm summer, the kind of summer we all deserve.

I really like the pieces I have seen but with one exception, the black piece below to the right. It looks like it would be more suited for a porno. Well, every designer is allowed one or two creative cerebral haemorrhages now and then I suppose.

Eva Mendes + Stella McCartney

For the Costume Institute Gala Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum in New York Eva Mendes wore this beautiful dress by Stella McCartney. A striking blue contrasted by a golden belt fits Eva Mendes's colouring very well.
