Burberry

I was out yesterday drinking far too much champagne which of course leads to that the brain isn't functioning properly today. I'm pissed off about an old lover as sometimes you do. Done extensive window shopping, eaten some oysters and had som more wine. It is bloody well time for an infusion of luxury and Buberry will more then suffice.

Hermes Spring/Summer 2012

Hermes makes bags that some women seem to be able to kill for. Well at least sign on a waiting list and pay a sum that could finance a proper trip to the other side of the world. Hermes has been around for quite some time and isn't exactly what we associate with fashion forwardness but they live on old and hard earned laurels. Another thing that a lot of women consider to be a must have in their wardrobe is a Hermes scarf.

Even though Hermes makes menswear (and other things naturally) I personally think that it feels like a woman's label. Men don't feel that they need to break their necks och bust their bank balance for a jacket or a pair of trousers from Hermes like they would be more likely to do for Hugo Boss, Armani or Burberry. As a man's label Hermes is quite anonymous which is of course a bit strange. The quality is excellent, the prices are over the top like all luxury brands and their clothes are not particularily different from the other labels mentioned above. So what is it down to? Marketing and the building of brand value. Hermes has all the necessary assets. Now it is all done to the packaging.

Burberry 2012/2013

Christopher Bailey continues to go from strength to strength as a designer for Burberry. The collection for fall 2012 has me drooling over the keyboard. I mean, come on, look at it. They are must haves from beginning to end. The cut and the colours are superb, and I petition Burberry to send me one piece each of the entire collection. A man can dream, can't he?! ;-) My absolute favourite is the ensemble above with the blue velvet jacket and brandy coloured trousers. Want doesn't come close to describe how much I want these!

Burberry Spring 2012

A taste of the new advertising for Burberry spring 2012, and quite a yummy taste it is. Classic Burberry with a twist of sexiness. I find it nice and when have you last seen two trenchcoats look so hot? English quality all the way and also packaged in the right way. In other words a winner.




On the other hand I'm not sure I can call the sweater on that guy above a winner. It's a bit too colourful, even for me.

RED!!!

Chado Ralph Rucci

All my life I have been a lover of blue and I still am. But the last year I have grown more and more to like RED. It is the colour that is said to attract the most attention and I suppose it suits my personality at the moment because I relish the attention, so bring it on. Who could not love such a happy colour as red, and apparently lots of designers have it in their fall collection this season as you can see from the pictures. And we are closing up to Christmas, where the ultimate holiday colour is red, at least if you are Scandinavian. Go out there and get yourself a red infusion in your wardrobe.

More coveted things and this time at Burberry. This renowned, English company with Christopher Bailey at its head is churning out must have pieces by the minute. If you are in London you should check out their shop on Bond Street which is nothing short of a wet dream. Fabulous materials, great tailoring and killer advertising make a package which is worthy a sacrifice of a serious amount of the powerful pink pound.

Since I was talking about tweed and England we have this more modern approach to these subjects from Burberry for fall 2011. Good, old Burberry. A brand we can always rely on. My tongue is hanging down by my kneecaps. I want these pieces. All of them!

Burberry - Explorer Canvas Bag, and a Fleeting Life

I was sitting there surfing the web while taking care of a student who did a re-exam in business. I found this bag from Burberry that cost "just" £650.

I asked my student if he was tired and he said that last monday he had got the information that he has a hereditary heart disease. This means that his heart can race at any moment and eventually stop. He needs a pace maker, has to take it easy and of course this weighs on his mind.

This puts luxury goods and a lot of other things into perspective. Not that we should stop shopping. If you can afford a bag like this and want it, and it makes you happy, buy it.

Life is fleeting. Too fleeting to not say "I love you" if that is what you want to do. Too fleeting to deny that you have feelings and to deny who you are. If you suppress that you feel and turn yourself into something that you not really are, you commit the biggest of crimes.

You betray yourself.

Burberry is one of the long standing labels that a few years ago changed image and became hot. You can say that they put the E back in English. Visit their webpage and see an impressive selection of bags that will set your wallet on life support but they will also last a life time.
