Cool Stuff from Vivienne Westwood

This current season Vivienne Westwood has dished out some cool stuff, like herself in her ads. I actually like to see the grandma of punk doing her own modelling in the glossies.

These shoes are really cool and are definitely made for being showed off on the streets of London.

I like the hint of homoeroticism.

Cool ring. I want it!

A black waistcoat and a red jacket. Yummy! Let's run to the nearest Vivienne Westwood shop or surf into her webpage.

Harvey Nichols

Harvey Nichols, my favourite department store in the world, has launched a joint project with a handful of noted designers to produce one of kind wool handbags. They are made in support of The Campaign for Wool and are on an online auction that runs until september the 30th, link here. The proceeds will go to the Prince's Countryside Fund. More uinformation about The Campaign for Wool you can find here.

My personal favourite is the one from Smythson and then I love everything that you slap the names Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood on.

Lady Lloyd

When I saw a clip from Vivienne Westwood's fall collection fashion show I caught a glimpse of Lady Lloyd. A dragqueen from England that works with music, as a dj, and as a model. I instantly thought that she was cool, and the fact that she hangs out with Lady Gaga and Vivienne Westwood, two of my favourites, doesn't hurt a bit. The fashion world has always welcomed and accepted individuals of all kinds because that world feeds of it. What can be more intriguing and inspirational than human beings who go against the grain, who defy traditional viewpoints and walk their own way? Lady Lloyd is a fine example of a rebel and imagine how dull the world would be without her.

Vivienne Westwood Fall 2011

My fascination with Vivienne Westwood is ever ongoing and the collection for fall 2011 doesn't fail to impress.

An air of the 1930s runs like a red thread through the collection. It is updated, colourful and with the quirky and unexpected elements that we have grown accustomed to when it comes to Vivienne Westwood's creations.

The same theme meets us in the men's collection and the most coveted pieces where I am concerned you find in the picture below. Those clothes can cheer up any gloomy autumn day.

Vivienne Westwood Accessory

We all need to accessorize and make our outfits a bit more fun and perhaps more personal. Women have far more opportunities than men but we have to play what we got. The cufflinks above are nice and you do need more than one pair.

I like roses and I think this tie is quite fun. On the other hand it is atention grabbing like most of the stuff that Vivienne Westwood puts out on the market. Therefore I'm bit unsure about this one. I have never needed any help in the atention grabbing department, quite the opposite.

Vivienne Westwood Spring 2011

Vivienne Westwood is definitely a quirky person who looks on the world with her own special glasses. Perhaps it is not so likely that you will run into a person in the street wearing one of the ensembles you see here but we have some gold nuggets to enjoy. The blue jacket with white trimmings to the right would be very welcome in my wardrobe. Come to papa.

Vivienne Westwood's fashion shows are always a treat because they always have a surprise or two to deliever.

The short pants are disgusting but I really like the shoes.

Label Whore

Ebay and Amazon. Those are two webpages I surf into frequently in a mist of "must have". A steady stream of packages arrive at my door step containing books, clothes and other knick-knakcks. It starts with a hunt for interesting objects. Page up and page down of more or less desirable things. Then the bidding starts. What should my strategy be? What should my maximum bid be? In my mail box messages come that I have won certain auctions and that I have been outbid in others with the question if I want to bid higher. I have to confess that I more often than seldom break my maximum limit. Just one more bid and it is MINE!

Do you start seeing a pattern?

I have clothes up to my neck, literaly. In my wardrobe I have representatives from Hugo Boss, Donna Karan, Tommy Hillfiger, Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier. To what use one can ask? Do I became happier because I have a belt from Gucci around my waist? The answer is of course no. A small rush of happiness that lasts for five to ten minutes after the actual purchase and then it is just another thing sacrificed on the altar of consumption.

Our result obsessed society wants us to consume and top last years sale figures. Money makes the world go round. Both you and I know that when we have pulled our heads up from the sand we stand in front of the cold, hard fact that there is a limit of what we can spend, can consume and what our planet can handle.

There are people out the there in the real world, outside this digital bubble, who spend thousands of pounds on things they don't really need and put themselves in debt. They are stuck in a whirlwind where shopping is the same as happiness and stuck in a dependence just as strong as the one that drugs induce.

I'm not in debt because of my shopping. Thank heavens! But I know myself and I have the strength to stand up and admit that I'm a label whore.

The Grandma of Punk

One of the designers that I have admired for a long time is Vivienne Westwood. She truly has her own unique way of expressing herself. After dressing the Sex Pistols she will always be one of the ultimate definitions of punk.

You can never escape the fact that what is shown on the catwalk would be more suited for a costume party than everyday life but that needs to be forgiven. What is shown is an image more than an actual reality. It is a clever building of a brand. It's art. It's a fantasy.

Surf by her webpage and see the wondrous universe which is Vivienne Westwood.

And take a closer look at this image.

The funny thing is that a man can look hot in a kilt. Well, or not but I suppose it comes handy in some situations.
