Fred Perry

Fred Perry is one of the labels that define preppy and since I'm a sucker for that style I'm an avid fan of this company. The prices are not extremely high but not exactly easy on the wallet either. From the present collection I chose these four items. A pair of white or beige chinos is a good choice for summer. Just beware about where you sit down and so on. For some reason I like cardigans and I like to break off the preppy look with t-shirts that have strong colours and exciting prints. It's just the way I am. I don't want to conform entirely to one particular style. I want to mix it up and present something that is me.

Galliano - Fallen from Grace

In Sweden we have an expression that would translate into "having taken a shit in the blue cabinet". It means that you have made an arse of yourself, said the wrong thing and so on and so forth. According to an article I read John Galliano has taken a crap in that particular cabinet. Apparently he was filmed at a restaurant being highly intoxicated, being rude to the other guests and more or less glorifying Adolf Hitler. Definitely the wrong move. He has now been sacked from his highly publicized position as head designer for Dior.

No matter how gifted you are, no matter how famous you are and no matter how rich you are it doesn't give you the right to be rude to other people, belittle others and spew offensive remarks around you like a fertilizer on steroids. No one is immune and the higher up you are in the hierarchy the harder you fall.

Felicity Brown

Felicity Brown is a London based designer has set tremor through the fashion world with her cocktail dresses. When I saw this picture I can understand why. This one of the examples where design and art merge because it is as beautiful as a painting. It also has a dreamy quality and makes me think of fairies and fairytales.

NN 07

NN 07 is a Swedish brand that is fairly new to the scene. They are not concerned with trends. Long lasting fashion with concern for the environment is their message to the world. You should check out their website and read their philosophy. I love it!

The ad campaign for the spring/summer collection 2011 is nothing short of spectacular. Just look at the pictures. Fabulous!! And talk about being a far cry from the cold north. Pleasant to look at when the degrees are below zero and you are surrounded by snow.

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011

A few years ago the well known luxury company Louis Vuitton added clothes to their established bags and accessories. It could have gone straight to hell, as it sometimes do when companies try to conquer new territory but it didn't. The designers have stayed true to the feel and atmosphere that we have grown accustomed to concerning Louis Vuitton's other products.

The collection that is out right now is no exception. I would like to describe the style as decadent safari. Can't you imagine yourself at night in Kenya after a long day looking for "the big five" and then having slipped into cool Louis Vuitton with a Vodka Martini in your hand? I suppose we have to win that lottery first ...

The bags of Louis Vuitton are beautiful, granted, but the pattern and monogram is also one of the most copied in the world. What's the point of wasting a small fortune on something that every Tom, Dick and Harry run around with?

Velour

Today I want to focus your atention on a clothing line called Velour. The head office is in Gothenburg, Sweden, and they sell their clothes in all the Scandinavian countries but also in European countries like Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain and the United Kingdom. Velour is also represented overseas in Canda, Australia, Japan and the US.

The whole thing began in 1997 when Per Andersson took over his grandmother's shop. He named his shop Nostalgi and it sold clothes along with art and design. The shop was a success and that gave the idea of creating their own clothes. The company Velour was founded in 2002 and the first collection was launched in 2005.

Velour designs for both men and women and they call their style Feelgood Preppy. I like their clothes because they give atention to details. The preppy look suits me and it is an extra perk that the company is based in the western part of Sweden.

SVEA

In Borås, Sweden, there is a clothing company called SVEA. The brand was originally started by Per Holknekt, who today runs the successful company OddMolly. SVEA started as a skater brand and then transformed into a more regular brand for boys and then also for girls.

Today the company is run by Kikki Wallmansson. It is a youthful brand with a bit of an edge. Check it out!
