The king is dead but business runs as usual. Designer Sarah Burton has taken over the flag and created the women's collection for spring 2012. It is McQueen with the quirky details and a fashion show with that extra something. But on the other hand, it is one thing to be McQueen and another thing entirely to try to be McQueen. When the designs becomes too much of what would Alexander have done the arrow misses the bulls eye. And even if this is good it is a designer trying to be Alexander McQueen.
The menswear is not as extravagant as the womenswear but that was also true during the time of Alexander McQueen, and for every other desgner as well. That is the inherent difference between the expressions of the genders. The menswear for 2012 are youthful with a touch of romanticism that in their injection of colour will seduce many buyers.
